I'm minoring in gender studies because I thought that they would end up being useful when it comes to my academic career. My master's thesis in psychology was about femicides and the men who committed them. I had hoped that gender studies would give me new insight to the matter or at least some tools to work with. But no, it's just total poop and no help whatsoever.
Some time ago I decided to start losing weight. Due to endless stays in various psychiatric wards several years back I gained quite a lot of extra poundage and I'm not happy about that. When I was living in the US about a decade ago I had anorexia and now I have slipped back to the same mode of thinking. At the moment I definitely can lose quite a lot of weight without being considered as an anorectic but my new eating habits are quite alarming. My calorie intake per day is usually something between 500 and 800. It should be about 1500 and on those days when I exercise it should be more. I just don't feel hunger anymore.
I had a Latin exam yesterday and it went down the tube. No big surprise, because I have skipped most of the lectures. Oh well, now I just have to do some extra work to catch up. I have always tought that Latin is a cool language. Dark and mysterious and whatnot.
At some point I gave up studying and went shopping instead. I finally found wifebeaters and I just had to buy five of them. Now I can go on looking like a butch.
I'm minoring in gender studies and yesterday I learned that against all the odds I'm living in a barbarian country. I'm taking a course that deals with gender, violence and legislation. In this god forsaken country sexual abuse cases are plaintiff cases. This means that if the victim doesn't want to take the crime into the court nobody (this meaning the police and the prosecutor) is allowed to do anything - such as start a crime inquest. Under this law falls rapes and the sexual abuse of disabled persons, unconscious persons and children. What this means in practice concerning children, the parents can prevent the police and the prosecutor from taking any actions. I nearly choked when I heard this.
Another imaginary realm of mine is born.
